About Mandolin Dreams
The biggest event in the last week has to be that I finally did it! I published the first chapter of Mandolin Dreams for the world to read. My mom liked it, and said I was a good writer. Bless her cotton socks.
In other novel writing news, I think I’ve ironed out the branding for my Substack and for the novel itself. That took a bit of time. I had started out using Canva to create assets, but was fed up of fighting with the free version. Then I thought, if I am going to pay, I’ll pay for Adobe instead. So I’m trying out Adobe Express, and I am liking it, a lot! It is just so much more intuitive than Canva.
VO audio improvements incoming
I am not really into audio, and I don’t think I have a great ear at all, but I would like for my voice overs to kick some ass. So instead of falling too deep down the rabbit hole of learning about audio, I’ve decided to find someone to help me get my shit together. Enter Nathan from The Time Preservation Society.
He’s helping me up my recording game and he is an amazing human that knows his stuff! He has a great Youtube channel for all things audio. Check it out!
Chapter II - Coming out on Friday!
Stay tuned for Chapter 2 this Friday! Anthony takes back to 1992…
Just Finished Reading
Man, oh man. I enjoyed this one. It was fun and sad as fuck. We should all have at least one friendship like the one Andrew and Tully have.
Notable quote from the book:
I had a dream last night. You sat down and wrote a book about us. And I woke up this morning hoping you had and I wanted to read it. (p. 196)
I almost cried when I read that. It’s exactly what I imagine Ivan would say, if he knew I was writing a book about our friendship.
The Book of Doors, by Gareth Brown
I think the most surprising thing about this novel, is that it is Gareth’s first. The world-building is wonderful, and there is time-travel. I love me some time-travel!
Highly recommend!
