Time to get back on track!
It’s been a while. This absence was planned, sort of. It was summer; I was tired. I had just delivered the first six chapters of Mandolin Dreams. I was done, and needed time to figure out which thread to follow for the next few chapters. I’m still not sure. Hopefully, we can figure it out together.
I’ve put out chapter VI.ii to wrap up part one of the book.
I hope I’ve done a good job setting the stage for what’s to come. 😬
We’ll see. 🤞
The story so far…
But if you’d rather just jump in with part two, here’s the skinny of what’s happened so far. But don’t count on me to make things easy…
Part One, A Poem
Van and Anthony. Best friends
who would do anything for each other.
Hobson. A short and strange man,
who is more than he seems but less than he thinks.
Terry and Delphi. Hands both.
Who is June?
Van searches for an absent Anthony,
who grieves a dead Van.
The former is actually alive,
while the latter may truly be missing.
From London to Paris, the pair singly go.
One looks for the other who mourns.
Something bigger looms in the background.
In structure, past accounts from Anthony's lips
are cut with Van's current predicament.
Q & A
Q: What’s coming in Part 2?
A: That is the question, isn’t it? I wonder the very same. 😉
Q: Will chapters be published weekly again?
A: Yes! I am back on track with the schedule. Hoping that nothing comes up to derail the writing! Chapter VII.i drops this Friday.
Q: Did those things really happen to you and Ivan?
A: FFS. 🙄 See this post, but the short answer is mostly no. Part two will certainly kill this line of questioning.
What else is going on?
Well, I am still gearing up to launch The Curious Quiddist, a podcast about stuff, mostly stuff I either think about or should think about. More on that soon.
I started reading The Black Bird Oracle by Deborah Harkness, and I’m loving it. This the fifth instalment that started with A Discovery of Witches. This series has vampires, witches and time travel. What more could you possibly ask for? Oh, and it’s also a decent TV show.
Rereading The Witching Hour by Anne Rice. Not sure how my readings converged on all things witchy, but I’m going with it.
Listening (lots) to the Post Malone and Jelly Roll. I never thought I’d be into country music, but here we are.
Thank you so much for reading this far. I’m soooo grateful that you’re even remotely interested in Mandolin Dreams and perhaps in anything else I might have to say.
